ASSOCIATION OF MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTIONS IN SOUTH ASIA
The Institute of Certified Professional Managers (CPM) the premier professional management body in Sri Lanka held it’s International Management Conference in collaboration with the Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia (AMDISA), which is one of the major events in the Institute’s calendar and an important event for all the management professionals.
The CPM has identified the importance of Continuous Professional Development of its members, and professionals in various other fields. In this context, for this year’s International Management Conference, CPM has selected the theme “Managing Enterprises ; Challenges & Opportunities”.
The conference topics covered were sectors that need immediate attention on Multidisciplinary Management, Public Enterprise Management, Business Management and Business Schools – Corporate Interface. Eminent speakers from South Asian region were focused on these topics and gave their experiences in their respective countries. Therefore the conference theme motivates us to explore the ways in which business could be guided in a positive way.
The Technical Papers were designed in such a way so as to ensure the viable and effective practices to achieve superior value creation and business performance through which the assessment of business success of the entire nation is envisaged. Technical Sessions were scheduled for Friday, 13th September 2013, from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. in which four Technical Papers were discussed namely “Opportunities and Challenges in Multidisciplinary Management”, “Public Enterprise Management – Need for Change”, “Business Management in Key Economic Sectors” and “Can Business School – Corporate Interface Enhance the Managing of Enterprise?” with which the sessions were concluded.
Hon. Chandima Weerakkody – Deputy Speaker of Parliament, inaugurated the sessions as the Chief Guest, on Wednesday, the 12th of September 2013, while Hon. Karu Jayasuriya, M.P. and Fellow Member of CPM graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour and Prof. Uditha Liyanage delivered the Keynote speech at the SLIDA, Colombo 07.

The Institute of Certified Professional Managers was formed to provide professional qualification in management, termed as Certified Professional Managers (CPM), by conducting educational programmes, providing practical experience in private and public sector entities, and establishing a link between the private and public sectors for the advancement of professional management.
